Iberoamérica Social: As a starting point, it may be interesting to ask a question that, although it may seem simple, has its complexity. From your knowledge and experience, in your opinion, what should be the purpose of education systems?
Education is a political act, and this means that it is a process in which everyone must participate, because we are defining things that affect us all and condition our possibilities of seeing and understanding the world and, therefore, what we can never forget, that we are conditioning our ability to make decisions, to involve ourselves in problem-solving and decision-making processes in all matters, situations and problems that directly or indirectly affect us, both individually and collectively.
IS: As a political act, education should be coherent with the political system in which we live, therefore, education should be democratic. Is the education system really democratic today?

The city of León currently has 142,439 inhabitants. Its location in the northwest quadrant of the peninsula, an obligatory passage to Galicia and Asturias, and a link between them and the plateau, gives us an idea of the importance of its location as a communications hub; a city on the Camino de Santiago. It is a modern, commercial city, with residential neighborhoods of wide avenues and landscaped areas and samples of modern and avant-garde architecture, buildings such as the City of León Auditorium, the new Civic Center of El Crucero, the headquarters of the Junta de Castilla y León and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (MUSAC), are good examples of this.

We are very happy with his current school. He is happy, we like the professionals who are with him, he spends few hours, it is close to home and in the afternoons he has different therapy sessions and other activities.
In principle, and unless we have no choice, this is not what we want. We will go to visit him, of course we will. But if I’m not convinced about special schooling and I don’t get a place in one of the specialized centers, I’m capable of leaving him at home with me. Although I don’t know if that’s possible since he’s already of compulsory school age.
